Amie Brockway-Metcalf is a designer who has a passion for graphic storytelling, both mainstream and independent. She worked at DC Comics for seven years as Art Director for the Vertigo and Helix lines, Vertigo Cover Editor, and finally DC Upscale Art Director, working with company-owned and creator-owned properties including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Justice League, the Sandman and The Spirit. Previously she was Art Director at the influential Kitchen Sink Press, working with creators such as Charles Burns, Alan Moore and Robert Crumb. She has designed books, merchandise and packaging for DC Entertainment/Warner Bros., Viacom, Disney Publishing and early-adopter.com. She has won both the Eisner Award for Best Publication Design and the Harvey Award for Excellence in Presentation.
She likes Miyazaki movies, Broadway musicals, and teaching practical skills such as sewing, carpentry, and coding to Girl Scouts.
